Design / Build Approach

Spire Architecture & Design offers an integrated design/build approach for clients. We qualify contractors based on personal experience and consultation with previous clients. In most cases, these are people who have done work in our own homes. By managing the overall design process, bidding and construction, we have greater control over the material quality and project scope. Additionally, we can better communicate with our clients regarding material pricing, labor required and scheduling. This holistic approach increases the efficiency of the process, resulting in projects that are always ‘On Time’ and ‘On or Under Budget.’

Case In Point:

We were contracted to renovate the interior and exterior of a 1980’s “Salt Box” design and convert it into a more Modern design with minimal interior space. The owner was directly involved in the material selection, equipment and other areas of the design process. Through meetings, sketches and conversation, a scope was developed. However, the scope was periodically updated due to field conditions and items that were uncovered during construction. By managing the integrated design/build process, Spire Architecture & Design was able to review these conditions with the owner through digital media and periodic site visits and quickly modify the designs to cost effectively accommodate the required changes.

This “Hands On” approach created open lines of communication and provided all parties with current, accurate information and greatly increased the efficiency of the team.

At Spire Architecture & Design, we’ve seen first-hand how a balkanized approach can result in questionable gaps, because there are a multitude of paths a design, scope or budget decision may take. By reviewing and discussing the outcome of each with all parties involved, we can better service our clients’ needs and achieve their overall goals.
